Our latest acquisition is this beautiful Art Deco Mido pocket watch. It dates from the early 1930’s, the movement was launched in 1932. It is a rare specimen, it has received deviations from the basic Felsa 161caliber, and it looks absolutely amazing. Not only is it signed Mido ‘Limited’, (did they bring out limited additions in those days :) it is also signed with the clever round logo MW which simply stands for Mido Watch.
The case back is signed Acier Staybrite, stainless steel in French, though it contains a slightly different compound then the regular stainless steel. Firth Brown, 1920’s England was the first company to manufacture this steel alloy.
The Mido pocket watch has a sleek sophisticated no nonsense look, relatively flat, fine stepped bezel, with a uncommon square bracket. The extraordinary shaped hands resemble the ‘rust bluing’ process, which creates a deep bronze shade.
Typical for Mido is that it never compromises on quality.
