Leon Levy and brothers founded the Pierce Watch Company in 1883 Biel, Switzerland
as Léon Lévy Frères Manufactures des Montres et Chronographes Pierce.
By 1910 they had no less than 1,500 employees, the company was growing rapidly and from 1930’s on every Pierce watch was entirely manufactured under one roof. The fact that they made all of their watches themselves using crafty skills and engineering really set Pierce apart from the competition. Even the ‘Royal Air Force’ entrusted the Pierce Watch Company with the development of the pilot watch Flight Calendar.
The Pierce Triple Date Moon-phase watch is a masterpiece that offers a glimpse into the past while remaining relevant and desirable in today's world. A moon phase display’s the position of the moon as it orbits the earth.
When you look at the moon phase on this mid-20th century Pierce watch, you can see the moon is a cheerful one, you almost find yourself smiling back. Did you know Moon-Phase watches were invented by Patek Philippe in 1925.
All the functions; date pointer, month, day and moon-phase can be operated by using a pin pressure on the pushers, two on either side of the case. The original dial looks extremely well, with copper-colored raised numbers, it has a small glitch at the two on the outer date ring, which is rather insignificant, in my humble opinion.
The chrome top half of the case has some tiny scuffles here and there but nothing worth mentioning, the snap back is stainless steel and left as is/unpolished. The watch is powered by the high quality 103 C Swiss Pierce caliber movement, formally known as Eclipse 10.5''' till the 1940. Owning at least one vintage moon-phase watch is a must for the diehard watch collector.
