Viking - Sport, a very appealing name, wouldn’t you agree, the brand was especially made for the Scandinavian market. Without a doubt a handsome watch from the late 40’s – early 50’s.
Lovely designed high quality case, with lugs that are formed from a small crease created along the sides. The original black, grey, gold, two-toned Bulsseye dial, looks ridiculously good.
Inside the screw back lid it’s marked; Pansar-Boett - literally translated ‘armor casing’, Rostfritt - meaning stainless, Sandviken - a place in Sweden, stål - steel in Swedish, Viking – brand, serial number 243441, Imp – Imported.
Ticking away the time inside you will find the Cortebert 689 caliber Swiss made movement which was purchased, used and signed Viking. The movement has a so-called Spirofix, and if you tilt the watch to one side you can still read it on the dial under Vattentät. With this extra ingenuity you can regulate the movement to an even finer adjustment.
The movement is held extra firmly in place by a spring that runs along the outer ring around the movement and is held in place when the case back is screwed down.
A 17mm strap is needed although it does work with a soft 18mm.
