The Gübelin story began in 1854 Lucerne Switzerland. They were primarily known for their gemstones expertise and luxuriously designed jewelry. In due time they extended their focus to topnotch watch brands such as Audemars Piguet, Patek Philippe, Vacheron Constantin etc. They also sold watches under their own name by using fine quality existing movements. These movements were tailor-made and given a refined beautiful finish to meet the high Gübelin standards. Once approved they were allowed to carry the Gübelin name, which means you might be able to find a Gübelin signed watch with a Patek Philippe heart beating inside, rather intriguing wouldn’t you say.
This Gübelin watch screams ‘Art Deco’.
The stunning silver colored dial with mirror ring and the breathtaking blued steel hands play with the light, which shifts in color while you move.
This bundle of joy is kept safe within a sleek stainless steel ‘Staybrite’ case. To carry the Staybrite mark one would require permission from Firth. Firth was the company that created this magnificent alloy in 1924. Steel masters Thomas Firth & Sons Sheffield, England had it patented in Switzerland, under the Swiss patented No. 138 647, which was granted on the 15th of March 1930.
Nice ladies watch, though it was probably considered a man’s wristwatch back then ±1935.
