Bulova Military Watch is from 1945.

The case back is marked “ORD DEPT” indicating WW2. But so is the fact that the case is chrome plated, near the end of the war many chrome-plated Bulova watches where re-cased in stainless steel cases. That’s probably why you can find quite a few military Bulova watches with dials that have seen much more action than the matt finished stainless steel cases that seem to look as if they just rolled off the production line.

As you can see, we added the packaging of the sub-second hand which was missing. Luckily, we had an original new old stock substitute on hand complete with dangerous radioactive (not so dangerous behind glass) material.

Unimaginable that the ladies who worked in the watch factories in those days used to lick the brush on their tongues to make the brush nice and pointy before adding the radioactive luminous to the dials and hands.

We added an untouched original military new old stock cotton/canvas strap from the U.S.A. which suits the Bulova perfectly and is wears so smooth and soft that you almost forget you are wearing it on your wrist.

Each and every watch I photograph fascinates me in one way or the other, and there is something about this watch, I can’t quite put my finger on it, so it might just disappear off the radar for good if no one snatches it up soon
