I am thrilled to introduce you to this fabulous mid 1940’s wristwatch with distinctive Art Deco features. First and foremost are the captivating case extensions, like linear matt lines that extend from the case and hold the flexible swivel lugs in place. The case measures 32 mm across the face excluding the crown, and 48 mm from tip to tip.
Next is the gorgeous two-tone bronze and black dial with lovely sub-second and large distinctive numerals.
In 1930, the company named Rodana SA was founded by Hans Baumgartner in Biel, although the towns of Grenchen and Lengnau are also named as company headquarters.
If you look into the history of Rodania (formerly Rodana), you can see that the company must have played an important role in the watch market. Only a few years after its foundation, the company gained a reputation for particularly fine wristwatches and pocket watches. As a result, the company expanded rapidly in Europe and America as early as the 1940s, opening various sales offices in Madrid, New York, Caracas and Montreal.
