We have yet another smashing Tavannes Travel watch in store for you. One from the ‘La Captive’ series, you very seldom find in this design and in such an amazing condition. 'La Captive' literally means enclosed or kept hidden. The watch looks to have been cherished and handled with kid gloves. The watch is concealed behind a clever mechanism that hides the dial behind shutters that are operated by two pushers on either side, you simply open the shutters by squeezing the black enamel ends and it reveals the watch display, release it and the shutters close. To open for full display tilt it slightly forwards and presto you have a desk watch.
The 925 solid sterling silver case feels sturdy and it works as if it has just rolled off the factory treadmill yesterday. The case displays all the appropriate hallmarking’s, and each part carries the same number 01291. On the case you can see a double layered lizard decoration of sorts, on the largest one they created a buttonhole on which I assume you can attach a watch chain, although the jury is still out on how it is exactly used.
According to the serial number on the movement it dates from the year 1936.
Such amazing little watch-wonders these kinds of travel/purse/pocket/miniature desk watches, they make keeping track of time a delight. 100% original, fully serviced, and sold as always with a one-year mechanical warranty.
