Simply breathtaking Jaeger-LeCoultre Memovox wouldn’t you agree?
After a few tryouts with several manual calibers during the 1950’s JLC finally introduced what was to become the ‘Holy Grail’, this amazing geniusly engineered caliber 825 with bumper automatic, hammer-based alarm and date. So not only does it wake you up, it gets you there in time, and on the right day, to a certain extent that is ㋡.
Memovox stems from two Latin words Memor - remembering and Vox - voice, in other words the ‘voice of remembering’, an ingenious name for an alarm.
One could say JLC was influenced by their precursor, the legendary Vulcain Cricket who was the true expert in the perfect alarm watches. Sound-wise they both sound magnificent, the sound is loud enough to wake you, but in no way annoying, in my humble opinion.
The whole watch is in an impeccable state, it’s almost too good to be true. The heavy 18 karat solid gold case is untouched, as is the dial, the crowns and the movement. With it’s no less than 37mm size case of the JLC definitely meets the standard nowadays.
Any vacation plans? You may want to skip one and go for a lifetime investment, with safer and more increasing rates than anything else, especially the vintage high-end brands are constantly on the rise.
